Licenses
The aim of this program is to educate the candidates in the practical and theoretical developments in modern soccer, so that they may devise, organize, conduct and evaluate coaching sessions in basic and advanced skills, tactics, strategies and systems of play. Candidates will also better understand and employ the complimentary managerial, medical and coach-related aspects, appropriate to the role of the coach at the beginner through to the competitive level.

Please note the following:

  • Prior to December 31, 2019 - It is highly recommended that preceding Provincial B holders audit the CSA B License Part 1 before progressing on to the CSA B License Part 2.

  • After December 31, 2019 - Preceding Provincial B holders must audit the CSA C license and retake the CSA B license Part 1, before progressing on to the CSA B license Part 2.

C License
In the spring of 2014, the Canadain Soccer Assoc (CSA) has introduced the new 'C' License as part of Phase 2 of the new Canadian Soccer Coaching Pathway. The 'C' License (having replaced the pre-B assessment) is now the entry level of the Licensing Stream in Canada. Pre-requisites: NCCP Module Make Ethical Decisions/Evaluation.

B License Part 1
This 40-unit course deals with coaching youth players and the methodology behind organizing coaching sessions. Coaches are required to perform in practice sessions, and are also required to coach two practice sessions for the evaluator. Coaches must be able to play and be fit. This is a Pass/Fail course. Pre-requisites: Certified C License or Provincial B (see note above) & NCCP Course Competition - Introduction Part A.  


B License Part 2
This 40-unit course is delivered twice a year by the Canadian Soccer Association. This course deals more in depth with tactics and technical sessions. The coaches are required to attend this 7-day course, which includes performing in tactical and technical sessions, plus coaching two practice sessions and an oral interview. Coaches must be able to play and be fit. This is a Pass/Fail course. Pre-requisites: Completed B License Part 1.

A License
The aim of this program is to educate and develop coaches to be leaders in the technical/tactical development of soccer in Canada. Candidates will be trained in the practical and theoretical developments in modern soccer, so that they may devise, organize, conduct and evaluate coaching sessions in basic and advanced skills, tactics, strategies and systems of play. Candidates will also better understand and employ the complimentary managerial, medical and coach-related aspects, appropriate to the role of the coach at all levels of soccer. 

The CSA 'A' License Program is divided into two annual periods of ten days. Both parts will be conducted as residential courses, approximately twelve months apart, at the National Training Centre in Toronto. Each candidate will be required to complete a limited number of assignments between parts 1 and 2. Both Part 1 and Part 2 will include practical and theoretical aspects of study with the Final Practical assessments being held during Part 2 of the course.
