Congratulations to all teams that participated during the 2014 PSL Season.

U14, U16 Girls and Boys, Senior Mens

The 2014 PSL Finals started on a cloudy morning with a local clash. U14 Regina local rivals Unidad and QCT United played in a tight close encounter. The last match between the two teams resulted in a 0-0 draw, during regular league play.

The Final game was very close with the deadlock being broken right from a Penalty Kick awarded after Rodrigo SantaMaria was tripped inside the Penalty Area. QCT have put up a great game but in the end, the exhaustion accumulated in the Friday’s semifinal game, the nagging injuries collaborated with the Unidad group strength resulted in an Unidad 3-0 victory.

The second game of the day was between another 2 city rivals from Saskatoon. U14 Girls Final opposed Aurora Concordes and Lakewood FC. The highly tactical  game resulted in a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes of play. Kicks from the Penalty Mark were the final tiebreaker with Aurora Concordes moving on to Club Nationals after a heartbreaking end of the game.

U16 Boys and U16 Girls Finals were opposing two big rivalries, representing two successful clubs in our Province: Unidad Regina and Prince Albert Celtics. Both encounters were very close, with no clear winner early on. Unidad displayed the characteristically passing game while Prince Albert Celtics have played hard and with abnegation. Both games were decided late with Unidad moving forward to represent Saskatchewan at Club Nationals.

The last game of the day was the second leg of the two leg Sporting Regina - HUSA Alumni fixture. Two days earlier, on Friday night, the first encounter started with three goals in 7 minutes for the HUSA Alumni. After that, the game was tight with a final 4-0 win for the HUSA Alumni. The result did affect the tactics used in the second game on Sunday night. Sporting Regina resolved all of the concerns from the first leg game while the Alumni did exactly what was needed to be done to walk away with the result desired. Another tight encounter resulted in an entertaining match that was won by the HUSA Alumni 2-1.

U18 Girls and Boys

U18 Girls Final was a great contest between QCT United and Eastside of Saskatoon. QCT has controlled the game from the beginning until the end and obtained a clear victory. QCT United will have another chance to represent Saskatchewan at Club Nationals.

U18 Boys Final was tense at the start. Unidad did capitalize on some of the many chances created and went on to win 3-0 against an equally great Prince Albert Celtics. Unidad are also returning to the Club Nationals after last year’s experience.

Men’s Masters

The Masters Final has opposed one of the greatest rivalries in our Province. Saskatoon Arsenal and Arauco FC have met in the Final several times over the past decade. The two team have met during regular play with Arauco FC obtaining a 1-0 victory. Collaborated with a 0-0 tie with the hosts Prince Albert Pikes, the win was sufficient to move Arauco FC to the final game.

The Masters Final had every ingredient of a great game: speed, lots of goal opportunities, tension, great plays, beautiful saves, great tackles and 7 yellow cards. The teams have brought everything to the table with Arsenal prevailing 2-0 after an amazing tight encounter.

Congratulations to all teams that participated during the 2014 PSL Season. We wish our Saskatchewan Representatives the best of luck at Club Nationals!

We are looking forward to a great new exciting season and hope to see all teams returning for PSL 2015.
