U18 PSL FINALS TOOK PLACE IN REGINA!
2014-07-23Those teams who won the PSL League Championships title earned the right to represent Saskatchewan at the Canada Soccer Club National Competitions.
The U18 PSL Season drew to a close with the PSL finals being played on Sunday. The Finals were hosted at Liebel Field in Regina on Sunday afternoon and there were hard fought match ups with four dynamic teams competing to advance to the National Club Championships.
At 3:15 the Boys final kicked off with Unidad playing host to Prince Albert Celtics. Unidad went through the season with one loss in six U18 league games. The Celtics sought revenge as they lost two games of their six, both to Unidad. The teams played their hardest as the ticket to the Canada Soccer National Club championships was on the line. After two halves Unidad pulled through with the win and earned their spot to represent Saskatchewan at National Club Championships.
In the Girls U18 Final the undefeated QCT team played host to Eastside, a strong club hailing from Saskatoon. These two teams combined to score 10 goals total in their last two meetings. Eastside are not a team to give up, and as predicted they fought to move on in what was thier final PSL season for many of these girls. Ultimately it wasn't enough as QCT pulled through at the end with the win advancing to the National Club Championships on behalf of Saskatchewan's female players.
The Sasktachewan Soccer Association would to thank all teams for their hard work, dedication and participation in the beautiful game! It has been a fantastic season and all the best as you prepare for the next PSL season!
We would also like to extend a congratulations to our winners in Sunday's contests and will provide further updates on their trip to Nationals this fall.
