Saskatoon, SK,– The ASTRA Soccer Academy is pleased to announce that several female players who have risen to the HPDC level will receive funding to attend a High Performance camp in North Carolina this June. Based on a review of performance and commitment to training, the players will be selected shortly and will be announced here. As a part of its commitment to invest in player development, ASTRA will make $10,000 available to female players over the next two years. ASTRA also
plans to extend such opportunities to male players in the near future.
“This is a great opportunity not only for the players, but for ASTRA to show its commitment to continue development of soccer players in Saskatoon and area.” – Percy Hoff, Academy Director
The selected players will attend a camp at the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. The Tar Heels women’s soccer team is famous for having won 38 ACC Championships and 22 National Championships under the guidance of former World Cup coach Anson Dorrance. The Saskatoon players will have the chance to be exposed to a very competitive environment, which will help them to advance themselves in the Canadian game.
The ASTRA Soccer Academy provides reasonably priced training opportunities for all players in Saskatoon and area who want to improve their skills, in a non-threatening and positive training environment. This inclusive approach is already showing positive results, with many ASTRA participants moving steadily to higher divisions and to Provincial Teams.
