To: All SSA Member Organizations, Members, Stakeholders
From: Doug Pederson, SSA Executive Director

SSA Website Addition - Safe Space: Supports and Resources for Reporting Abuse and Misconduct

Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA), under the jurisdiction of Canada Soccer Association, is a member of the Safe Sport Coalition, a pan-sport coalition of National Sport Governing Bodies who are collectively dealing with safe sport issues.

During the May 4th Canada Soccer Annual Meeting of Members, provincial and territorial member associations endorsed the Canada Soccer Safe Sport Rosteras a progressive package of initiatives to create safe, fun and welcoming experiences for all participants. In response to and in support, SSA has expanded its efforts to ensure participants have access to tools for reporting and the necessary support system to carry forward with such action.

Now available on the SSA website is the Safe Space Page that houses contact information for national and provincial organizations and the support services available for the purpose of reporting incidents of abuse or misconduct.

We continue to proactively develop systems that enforce our commitment to do right by the player and to ensure they participate in a safe, healthy, and positive environment in every interaction they have. Building a network to ensure a province-wide support system exists is a collective responsibility, which requires us to be ever-vigilant and resolute in our efforts.

We strongly encourage all Member Organizations to add this information and the contact information included on this SSA webpage  to their own websites if they do not already have this information posted for their members.

For questions regarding this communication, please email Doug Pederson.
