2019 Coaching Education Opportunities
2019-02-05
We hope your 2019 has started off well and you are all excited for the year ahead. We are looking forward to a number of initiatives in 2019, including what’s to come for Coaching Education. Tied to the SSA Strategic Plan 2017-2020, which lays out a number of key goals and outcomes for coaching education, along with the enhancements within the Coaching Education Pathway from Canada Soccer, we are excited to share the following the upcoming Coaching Education opportunities.
Updated Coaching Education Pathway
Canada Soccer recently announced their updated Coach Education Pathway and expanded 2019 Coach Education Schedule (click here). As part of its focus on grassroots development, the program includes new age and stage specific offerings, as well as plans for updated and expanded offerings for coaches working in the top development environments across the country, including the professional club environment.

We will continue to update this chart every 2-3 years as the Coaching Education pathway and licensing evolve in the soccer landscape.
2019 Coaching Education Schedule
SSA staff have been working diligently behind the scenes to provide as much detail as possible about the upcoming year for coaching education, including prospective dates and information. Please click on the following link to go to the Coaching Courses page on the SSA Website for more information.
CSA Child License
The Child license is a new course offering from Canada Soccer and targets specifically those who are working with grassroots players. Member Organizations who are looking to run skill centres in the future will need Child License Certified coaches to operate. Additionally, organizations wanting to become National Youth Club License holders will need their Technical Director along with two staff coaches to hold the CSA Child License.

CSA C License (High School or Post-Secondary Students Only)
In alignment with the SSA Strategic Plan 2017-2020, SSA will be hosting a free C License for any High School (16 years and older) or Post-secondary students in 2019. With the continued evolution of coaching standards based on streams of participation, our hope is that current soccer players will become future soccer coaches and leaders in the game. To support and promote this possibility, we are excited to provide this unique opportunity for 2019 only. Because of limited availability, it will be first come, first serve for registration. Minimum age for participation is 16 years of age and coaches should complete their Learn 2 Train OR Soccer 4 Life community coaching course prior to attending.
