Re: SSA Policy Updates
We are pleased to release updates in various policy sections across SSA's operations. The updated policies are in effect as of today, January 15, 2019, and can be found on the Bylaws & Policies page of the SSA website.
Below is a summary of the updates, but we recommend members review all sections of policy that have been updated. Within the policies, items identified with (0119) have been updated.

Section 1 - Introduction to SSA
Minor updates
Section 2 - Membership Rights and Responsibilities
Updated to reflect current practices and CSA Principles of Good Governance.
Section 13 - Risk Management
Many sections of this policy have been added/updated to align with Canada Soccer and Club Licensing requirements. Changed sections include but are not limited to:

Section 1 - Introduction to SSA
Minor updates
Section 2 - Membership Rights and Responsibilities
- 3.3.2 - Indigenous Ancestry Voluntary Self Identification - change to wording
- 3.5.2 - 'Senior' players are now referred to as 'Adult' players
- 3.7.3 - Individuals may only hold one SSA registration per season; if an individual is playing in two or more organizations, should there be a conflict with registration, their Home MO is defined by the date and MO of their first registration that season.
- Updated to specify where SSA registration lies.
- 3.9.9 - Making Head Way added as a requirement for Coaches U9 and up beginning in Outdoor 2019
- 5.2.2 - All team and individual sanctions have been moved from this section and into Section 5
- 6.1 - Clarified Travel Policies
- 7.2.1 - As of 2020, MO's shall not have policies in place that restrict the rights of athletes to choose where they participate.
- 7.2.2 - MO cannot reasonably deny a player confirmation of good standing, nor can a fee be charged for this confirmation.
- 1.10 - Minor changes to the Officials Code of Conduct to align with Canada Soccer.
- 1.3 - As of 2020 MAP Grant priority will be given to those MO that at minimum achieve Quality Soccer standards under Club Licensing.

- Ethics Training - updated
- Reporting Child Sexual Abuse - updated
- Travel - new section
- Concussion Management - updated
- Injury Assessment Protocol - updated
- Insulin Pump Policy - new section
- Emergency Action Plan - updated
- Anti-Doping - updated
- Recruitment and Scouting - new section
- Screening Policies - updated to include requirements for online criminal record checks
