UPDATED: CSA Women in Coaching Initiative is coming to SK!
2017-10-26DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION HAS BEEN UPDATED TO NOVEMBER 9th!
As part of delivering Strategy Nine of the 2017-2020 Saskatchewan Soccer Association Strategic Plan, 'Target the adoption of coaching among females, particularly at the High Performance Levels', SSA is proud to bring forward this opportunity to female coaches in the province wishing to further their development.
In order to facilitate Sport Canada's goal to develop female coaches qualified to coach at the Provincial and National Levels, the Canada Soccer Association (CSA) has released information regarding their Women in Coaching Initiative for 2017/18.
Goal: Development of select female coaches to the B License Part 1 Award
Method: A mentorship program facilitated through a Provincially Approved Training Environment
Successful candidate(s) will be selected based on their background in the sport, their potential to work with players at an elite level and their commitment to coaching on an ongoing basis in the SSA Player Pathway. Successful candidates will take part in a Mentorship Program, which will enable them to work with elite female players. The program combines education with valuable experience, as they work towards meeting the requirements of the B License Part 1 Award. Due to the combination of education, guidance, and experience gained in a training setting, it is expected that candidates will make good progress toward meeting the goal of this initiative and help provide a pool of female coaches ready to pursue further opportunities at the elite level in Canada.
Curriculum
The mentorship program will follow a modularized B License Part 1 curriculum, which will be tailored to the specific training environment the candidate will be working in. They will work under the tutelage of a qualified Instructor/Mentor Coach (minimum certification B License National) for a minimum of 10 weeks, after which they will undergo a practical evaluation in order to gain the B License Part 1 certification status. The evaluation will be carried out by an evaluator who has not previously worked with the candidate.
Candidate Selection
SSA will select up to two candidates based on the prerequisites for entry into the B License Program:
-
Completion of the C License Course (Or undergoing C License Course in 2017)
-
Ex-Professional/National Team Player*
-
Elite Player, plus completion of the C License Course (Or undergoing C License Course in 2017)
*Please Note: Those entering the Program as an Ex-Professional/National Team Player must complete the C License Course and the Evaluation Process.
Cost of Participation in the Program
Successful candidate(s) will have the cost of their B License Part 1 License and mentorship covered.
