Teams set to embark all over Canada for the Canada Soccer 2017 Toyota National Championships

Youth teams from around the province have been competing throughout the 2017 outdoor season with their eyes on the ultimate prize of representing Saskatchewan at the upcoming National Championships from October 4th to 9th at three venues across the country. For results of the 2017 PSL Season, please check out the PSL Website.

On the Adult side, Provincial representatives for the Jubilee and Challenge Trophies have been hard at work practicing and getting ready to face off against the best around the country.

Under 15 Girls - PSL Champions and SK Club Nationals Representative: FC Regina

FC Regina went 6-3-1 overall throughout the PSL season.  In a final match versus Saskatoon North, characterized by fierce defending and with few chances to score for both teams, the end result was decided by an 86th minute goal. FC Regina will move on to represent Saskatchewan at this year’s Club Nationals for the second year in a row.

Calgary, Alberta will be the host city for the Under 15 Club National Championships. SK-FC Regina is set to begin qualification in Group C, with their first match on October 5 versus YU-Yukon Selects, followed by a match versus ON-Kitchener Academy on October 6th. Under 15 Boys – PSL Champions and SK Club Nationals Representative: Saskatoon South

Saskatoon South was a powerhouse in the U15 Boys Division in 2017, with a 6-0-4 record on the season, scoring 23 times and only allowing 6 goals. In the final, Saskatoon South controlled the game early on and scored two goals. Right before halftime, QC United charged back keeping the game to a one goal difference. The second half was a tight encounter with no goals on either side resulting in a 2-1 finish and Saskatoon South moving on to CSA Club Nationals in Calgary, Alberta.

Calgary, Alberta will be the host city for the Under 15 Club National Championships. SK-Saskatoon South is set to begin qualification in Group A, with their first match on October 5 versus PE-Winsloe- Charlottetown Royals FC and about versus ON-London Youth Whitecaps on October 6th. Under 17 Girls - PSL Champions and SK Club Nationals Representative: Saskatoon South

It was a fierce battle between Saskatoon South and FC Regina for top spot in the U15 Girls Division throughout the 2017 PSL season. Finishing 5-0-2 throughout the season, Saskatoon South had the Club Nationals in their sights. It was another very close match up between the 2 rivals Saskatoon South and FC Regina in the finals.  A masterful free kick in extra time resulted in a 1-0 win for Saskatoon South, earning the team a berth to Club Nationals to represent Saskatchewan.

Fredericton, New Brunswick will be the host city for the Under 17 Club National Championships. SK-Saskatoon South is set to begin qualification in Group A, with their first match on October 4 versus QC- CS Lakeshore and their second match versus AB- Sherwood Park Phoenix on the 6th. With two more games over the next two days, SK-Saskatoon South will look to rack up the W’s against NL- St. John’s FC and MB- Winnipeg Bonivital SC. Under 17 Boys - PSL Champions and SK Club Nationals Representative: Saskatoon North
 
It was looking like a repeat Championship season for QC United (6-1-0) in the U17 Boys Division in the 2017 PSL Season. Saskatoon North remained close on their heels and pushed for a final match versus the reigning champs. With hard work, determination and poise, Saskatoon North caused one of the biggest upsets with a 6-1 win over QC United and earning their berth to Club Nationals and representing Saskatchewan.

Fredericton, New Brunswick will be the host city for the Under 17 Club National Championships. SK-Saskatoon North is set to begin qualification in Group A, with their first match on October 5 versus ON- Mississauga SC. With three more games over October 6-8, SK-Saskatoon North will look to rack up notches in the win column against AB- Calgary Northside Hurricanes, NS-Halifax City SC and QC- CS Mistral Sherbrooke. Senior Women – Saskatchewan Cup Winners and SK Jubilee Trophy Representative:                      Saskatoon SK Impact FC
Saskatoon Impact FC qualified for this year’s Club Nationals competition unopposed. Working off of their 7th place finish in 2016, the team has added some new players to the roster and are looking to make their mark during this year’s competition. Surrey, British Columbia will be the host city for the Jubilee Trophy. SK-Saskatoon SK Impact FC is set to begin qualification in Group A, with their first match on October 5 versus NL- Holy Cross SC and follow that match up with a bout versus QC- CS Mont- Royal Outremont. Senior Men – Saskatchewan Cup Winners and SK Challenge Trophy Representative:                  Saskatoon HUSA Alumni
 
As one-time Challenge Trophy winners, Saskatoon HUSA Alumni is returning for its ninth appearance at Club Nationals. This team has been Saskatchewan’s representatives since 2009. With a great mix of seasoned veterans and newcomers, this team in primed and ready for a battle back to the top. Reaching the semi-finals five of the last six years, this team has proven to be a powerhouse in this Division and amongst the best in the country.

Surrey, British Columbia will be the host city for the Challenge Trophy. SK-Saskatoon HUSA Alumni is set to begin qualification in Group A, with their first match on October 4 versus NL-Holy Cross SC and their second game versus AB- Calgary Callies FC on October 5th. Two more matches round out the Qualification round, versus BC- Vancouver Club Inter FC and NS- Western Halifax FC. Seeding for the Senior Men will take place on October 9th. Live Streaming
Canada Soccer will broadcast every day from each of the three 2017 Toyota National Championships venues, culminating with the six gold-medal matches on Teck Finals Day. Toyota National Championships
Canada Soccer’s Toyota National Championships serves as our nation’s premier amateur competition, with the 2017 edition featuring close to 600 clubs from across the country competing for a spot at one of three locations: the men’s Challenge Trophy and women’s Jubilee Trophy finals in Surrey, British Columbia; the boys and girls U-17 Cup finals in Fredericton, New Brunswick; and the boys and girls U-15 Cup finals in Calgary, Alberta. The Toyota National Championships provide a meaningful soccer experience for host cities and participating teams, as well as the players, coaches, support staff, officials, and volunteers. These competitions are complimented by both the Futsal Canadian Championship and the Canadian Championship featuring Canada’s professional clubs.
