Member Restructuring and Proposed Bylaw Amendments

At a Membership meeting held on May 15, 2016, plans were made to conduct a robust consultation process regarding a revised member structure and future bylaw amendments.
A member-wide consultation process was conducted by Paul Varian of Capitis Consulting. Based on information gathered during the consultations, Varian developed a draft proposal, which outlined a simplified and clarified SSA membership structure. In August 2016, feedback on this proposal was received from the membership. The SSA Board approved the proposal in September 2016 and put forth complimentary bylaw amendments for member consideration. SSA Members were also invited to submit bylaws amendments and one proposal was received.
The proposal and amendments to the Bylaws and Articles were discussed at length on Oct. 23rd, 2016. A meeting was organized to provide an opportunity for all Members to participate. The information and outcomes of that meeting can be found here.
A number of amendments were suggested to specific articles during the day (Proposed bylaw amendments); these have been reviewed by the SSA Board and legal counsel, and the Board submits them for consideration at the AGM. In addition, it was noted that members may still submit bylaw amendments by the deadline:
