The Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA) is very pleased to announce the hosting of the first ever SSA Futsal Festival over Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26 in Saskatoon. Led by Canadian Futsal National Team Head Coach, Kyt Selaidopoulos, the event will consist of a Youth Futsal Festival, a Coaching Clinic, and a Men's National Team Identification Camp and Showcase Match.

"I am excited to be in Saskatchewan and to share my experience in futsal with coaches and players," exclaimed Selaidopoulos. "This is the beginning of a bright future in our country!"

The Coaching Clinic will be open to coaches either already engaged in futsal activities or interested in beginning futsal programming.  The focus will be on the benefits and techniques of futsal, Laws of the Game, and practice planning in both classroom and on-field sessions. The Futsal Clinic is being presented by the SSA at no charge to the participants; however, coaches are required to pre-register by Friday, November 18, with space limited to the first 20 registrations. For specifics on locations and times of the Coaching Clinic, please refer to the schedule below. In addition to the focuses presented above, coaches involved in the clinic will also have the opportunity to demonstrate their learning through involvement in the Youth Futsal Festival.

The Youth Futsal Festival is designed to introduce young players to the world of futsal, with 90 minute sessions consisting of activities and futsal matches for ages 10-12 and 13-15.

Session 1 will be open to a maximum of 40 players born in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and will take place in the South Gym of Holy Cross High School from 1:30 - 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 26. Session 2 will follow from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm and will target a maximum of 40 players born in 2001, 2002 and 2003. The Saskatchewan Soccer Association is also offering the Youth Futsal Festival free of charge; however, pre-registration is required and participation limited to 40 players per group.

"Futsal is the official indoor game of FIFA," explained Dave Nutt, SSA Director of Soccer Operations. "It is skillful, fast-paced and an ideal game for Saskatchewan winters! We hope that through this Futsal Festival, we will be able to introduce futsal to a wider audience and we look forward to supporting its growth in Saskatchewan."

Finally, Coach Selaidopoulos will have the opportunity to assess Saskatchewan's talented men's futsal players as he oversees a Men's National Team Identification Camp. The camp will consist of a training session and, for the soccer community interested in seeing futsal, an intra-squad Showcase Match, which will be played on the Family Focus court at the SaskTel Sports Centre (150 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, S7S 1P5) kicking off at 6:45pm.
