Re: Our Organizers Deserve Our Respect – Policy Update
A collaborative, inclusive, and respectful environment is critical to the SSA achieving our Mission “to provide leadership and support in the delivery of first-class soccer programs and services in Saskatchewan, developing individuals, creating community and support life-long participation in soccer”.
Thousands of individuals work tirelessly so others can enjoy the beautiful game. In the provincial soccer community, we count on Organizers, Volunteers, Coaches, Referees, Board Members and Staff to regularly make significant contributions to the sport.
In support of these individuals, who are the core of the Association, the SSA is introducing expanded policies to clearly articulate, educate and inform stakeholders of the expected etiquette when working with each and every individual in the Association.
Unfortunate examples within the sport community and from a few sources within in our own Association have put us in a position where we need to be more proactive about protecting the interests and wellbeing of the individuals within the Association. With the introduction of a new Unacceptable Action section within the Code of Conduct and Ethics Article 1.5:
The SSA honors the contribution of our Organizers. As an Association, we know that policy alone will not make the difference.
If you have questions about this communication, please contact Doug Pederson – Executive Director.
Please be reminded: National Volunteer Week is April 10 to April 16, 2016. Be intentional – take time to thank those in your soccer community who contribute so much.

- we send a clear message and a firm reminder that certain actions are unacceptable and will not be tolerated;
- we reinforce the message that respectful interactions with Volunteers and Staff are expected and they are vital factor in our ability to grow the game.

- We encourage all Member Organizations to adopt and enforce similar policies within their organization.
- We encourage all Member Organizations to share this communication widely to inform and educate all members.
- Please speak out and support those who may be experiencing behaviour that is unacceptable.
