The Sport First Aid Workshop is a 7-hour classroom workshop with content that deals with sport specific issues relating to liability, fitness & injury prevention, facility awareness, protective equipment, emergency action plans, the medical kit, life threatening injuries, injury recognition, and common injuries all geared towards sport in general.
Workshops are free to attend for any registered coach or team personnel in Saskatchewan; however, participants must register in advance. Space is limited and registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Individuals from outside the soccer community may be accepted in to these workshops with a registration fee, space permitting.
To register, please click here.
Upon completion of this workshop and the SMSCS Sport Taping workshop, as well as having valid CPR & Standard First Aid, individuals may complete an application form through the SMSCS to receive recognition through the 'Sport Safety Program Certificate of Completion'. As a part of the ongoing provision of sports medicine training and support opportunities, the SSA plans to deliver these same workshops in the opposite locations in advance of the outdoor playing season for individuals wishing to complete both components.
As a part of the Grassroots, Recreational and Competitive Stream Plans, these workshops will support coaching development and equip participants with new knowledge to support athlete participation and development. With few teams within the Grassroots, Recreational and Competitive Streams having access to sport medicine support on a regular basis, these workshops, which will be delivered by highly trained and experienced SMSCS Consultants, will provide coaches and team personnel with a foundation to support athletes under their care during the playing season.
