University of Saskatchewan Huskies Women Host Canada West Select Six

Teams from all over Western Canada took to the pitch on the weekend to secure their place in the next stage of CIS competition during the Canada West Select Six in Saskatoon.

On Sunday morning, the Huskies faced the University of Calgary Dinos for the bronze medal and a berth in the CIS National Championships. A goal in the 63rd minute by the Dinos was the only one of the game, as the Huskies were unable to capitalize on their opportunities within the box, including a zinger from Huskies’ Jenelle Zapski, which beat the Dino’s goalie, but went off the cross bar.

The UBC Thunberbirds were crowned Canada West champs after their 1-0 battle versus Trinity Western. The Dinos will join the UBC Thunderbirds and Trinity Western, as they advance to the 2015 CIS National Championships.
