Welcome to new SSA Staff Member, Filipe Dos Santos
2015-10-27Please join us in welcoming Filipe Dos Santos to the SSA staff team as Coordinator of Centre of Excellence Development. This is a limited scope, part-time position which was made possible with increased financial support from Sask Sport.
His primary responsibilities will be to:
- Implement the Center of Excellence (COE) program - including identification of potential COEs, support to applicants in the application process, and assessment and evaluation of applications.
- Provide COE support and evaluation services - including assessment of existing COEs against standards, and support to COEs in ongoing operations.
- Undertake athlete evaluation and development
- Support to other areas of HP programming as requested
Originally from Portugal, Filipe has been playing soccer since he was able to stand. In 1995 he was studying Psycho-Pedagogy in Lisbon when at the age of 21, he moved to Denmark to take his degree.
Filipe is a Canadian National B certified soccer coach, holds a Bachelor of Education, and has been working in the field of youth development through education and sport for nearly 20 years. Since coming to Regina in 2003 Filipe has been an active participant in supporting the growth and development of soccer in Saskatchewan, volunteering as a coach for REU and the Saskatchewan U16 Provincial Training program. In 2010 Filipe started Ginga Futebol Academy in Regina with the goal of providing kids of all skill levels with the opportunity to focus on foundational skill development in a fun, player centered environment.
In addition to his soccer career Filipe also provides coaching, mentorship and programming to at-risk youth through his work with Regina's Ranch Ehrlo Society. Recently voted one of Saskatchewan's "Future 40" for his contributions to youth development through soccer, Filipe is passionate about helping athletes achieve their potential through player centered development and is dedicated to the promotion of soccer in Saskatchewan.
Filipe is married to Sarah and is dad to two budding soccer lovers Noah (5) and Isaque (7).
