Friday, September 4th, 2015
The Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA) is very pleased to announce Queen City (QC) United Soccer Club from Regina as the second organization to meet the rigorous requirements of sanctioning as an SSA Centre of Excellence (COE). This announcement ushers in a new era in player development in Regina and continues the process of creating a provincial network of sanctioned training environments designed to provide all dedicated Saskatchewan participants with access to standards-based High-Performance training and competition initiatives.
“I fully commend QC United Soccer Club on meeting the SSA’s very stringent sanctioning standard. For more than a year Coach Hugh Dooley and the QC United Soccer Club have been working hard to put a development system in place for their participants. Required to maintain coaches with minimum levels of technical and theory certification, on and off-field training plans that mandate a specific number of training hours per maturational stage, the designation and use of an Integrated Sport Science Team, and year round periodization for all its High-Performance participants, the QC United Soccer Club is well-prepared to produce the elite athlete. Part of a dedicated development network, the sanctioning of Regina’s QC United Soccer Club is another step in substantiating Saskatchewan within the Canadian Soccer Association’s National pathway.”
SSA High-Performance Stream Manager – Coach Terrol Russell
Formally released in September 2014, the COE sanctioning process ensures participating Member Organizations and Entities meet a strict set of High-Performance development standards aligned with the High-Performance philosophies of the SSA, the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) and Sport Canada.
COEs are focused primarily on advancing the self-driven athlete and coach toward to higher levels of play (i.e. national teams, semi-professional and professional teams and high level collegiate teams) and providing Saskatchewan’s High-Performance participant with a dedicated, deliberate, and complex training environment to develop within, delivered by qualified coaches and supported by appropriate competition, sports medicine and science, and technology.
“On behalf of the entire QC United Soccer Club, I would like to thank the SSA for providing this tremendous opportunity to our athletes and coaches. With Astra Academy in Saskatoon and now ourselves in Regina, we believe Saskatchewan is well positioned to consistently produce national-calibre soccer athletes for the foreseeable future.
By participating in QC’s High Performance Stream - aligned with the rigorous standards that accompany the COE designation - current and future QC athletes will have opportunities like never before. For our coaches, this is both an opportunity for continued growth and professional development, as well as a reward for all of the hard work already completed to attain their current designations.
I know I speak for our entire technical staff when I say I can’t wait to get started!”
QC United Soccer Club Director of Athlete and Coach Development (DACD) – Coach Hugh Dooley
The SSA would like to congratulate and commend QC United Soccer Club on its commitment to meeting the SSA High-Performance Stream standards, its contribution to developing High-Performance soccer in Saskatchewan and the desire to be aligned with the SSA High-Performance Stream.
“This is another step forward in the implementation of the SSA High-Performance Stream Plan and the goal of sanctioning standards-based high-performance training environments across Saskatchewan. We are very pleased to welcome Queen City United Soccer Club as a sanctioned SSA Centre of Excellence and look forward to working with its staff.
