2015-07-14

The 2015 Showcase Provincial Selects Program is taking to the fields in Vancouver for the Pacific Challenge Series. From July 13th to 19th, players from around the province will compete against other U13 to U14 male and female teams from the western provinces. As part of the T2T stages 1 and 2 teams, players will be provided an opportunity to experience a high performance competitive environment, all the while developing their individual needs.

In collaboration with the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA), the event is being hosted by BC Soccer and the University of British Columbia (UBC).  Players will also have the opportunity to check out the July 15th Whitecaps FC2 game, a team that has some local talent to celebrate. Saskatoon’s own Brett Levis currently has two goals and two assists for the 2015 season with the WFC2.

Teams from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba take part in the week long series
Vancouver BC July13 2015 - BC Soccer and the University of British Columbia (UBC) in collaboration with the Canada Soccer Association will proudly host the 2015 Pacific Challenge Series from July 13-19. The Pacific Challenge Series is a competition designed for the Western Province’s (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba) high performance U13 and U14 players.

BC Soccer’s U13 and U14 Male and Female High Performance Program Groups will play a series of games between the Provincial Teams of Alberta (North/South), Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The matches kick off on Tuesday and will run through Saturday with all matches being held at UBC. The week long Pacific Challenge Series will conclude with the “Game of Distinction” match.  The “Game of Distinction” is one match played by all of the players that excelled throughout the week and who were selected by Provincial technical leads and by Canada Soccer and Whitecaps FC scouts.

“It is fantastic to have the top young male and female soccer players from Western Canada here at UBC to play in the Pacific Challenge Series,” said Carlos Grosso Director and Chair of BC Soccer High Performance Committee. “This is our second year hosting the Pacific Challenge Series at UBC and we are looking forward to another successful week.”

Each team will play each other once throughout the week and Canada Soccer Association (Male/Female) and Vancouver Whitecaps FC staff will be out to provide further ongoing evaluations and assessments of all the players. The Pacific Challenge Series provides an opportunity for high performance players across the Western Provinces to demonstrate their technical and tactical abilities for potential progression into CSA national programming as well as Whitecaps FC programming.

“The Pacific Challenge Series gives the players an opportunity to play in a high performance environment all while being able to focus on their individual development needs,” said Luca Dalla Pace, BC Soccer High Performance Officer
