SSA is proud to release updated policies related to Formal Complaints and Discipline. The SSA, with the assistance of the Sport & Law Group, has undertaken a full review of all policies related to formal complaints and appeals. Click here to read the newly updated policies.

  • Formal Complaints
  • Discipline
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Appeals
  • Conflict of Interest
  • Code of Conduct and Ethics including Harassment

With the support of Sport & Law all related policies are written with the same approach and consistency of language. This will ensure when we deal with a complaint that may involve a number of policies that we will consistent in our approach. We have also clearly outlined how various types of complaints are to be handled and how they can be handled more efficiently.

The goal is to ensure all parties have right to a fair hearing free of bias, and appeal if they so choose. Ultimately the goal is to resolve the conflict in a timely fashion, reduce the likelihood that there will be multiple stages within a single complaint; i.e. the complaint will be handled properly the first time, and the entire process will uphold the principles of procedural fairness.

At this time we are recruiting individuals to support the SSA and SSA Member Organizations at through the development of a Resource Group for Formal Complaints and Appeals in the following roles:
1. Case Manager
2. Adjudicator (Chair) for discipline or appeals
3. Panel Member – for discipline or appeals
4. Dispute Resolution Chair/Mediator
5. Advisor to SSA and Member Organizations
6. Content expert group – for the review of policies and practices in the future and the development of continuing education
7. Trainer – as a recognized trainer you would conduct training of SSA staff and Member Organization volunteers.

Section 12 - Article 7.2 outlines the detailed Terms of Reference for this Resource Group. Should you be interested in sitting on this Resource Group, please complete an Expression of Interest

SSA will provide ongoing training for all Resource Group for Formal Complaints and Appeals members. This is a very important aspect of the SSA and the governance of soccer and your assistance and expertise is greatly appreciated.

Those interested in sitting on this Resource Group as well as those who handle Discipline within their own Member Organization should attend the full day training session on March 22 at the Tropical Inn in North Battleford from 9 am to 4 pm. If you are unable to attend but would like to be part of the Resource Group, additional educational sessions will be available in the near future.
