Sarah Ochitwa Selected to CSA National EXCEL Program
2014-11-25
Sarah Ochitwa, an athlete involved in Saskatchewan Soccer Association's High Performance Development Centre, has been selected to attend a U15 camp for the Canada Soccer Women's National EXCEL program. The goal of the program is "to lay the technical groundwork as the players start to work their way through the Women's EXCEL Program, Canada's top performance player development stream" (Canada Soccer).
Ochitwa and the other select players from across the country began training on November 20th and will wrap up on Wednesday the 26th. Throughout the week long camp, the players participate in on-field sessions, fitness training, strength and conditioning and mental development workshops.
This invitation is a very exciting opportunity for Ochitwa and has the potential to lead to more opportunities in the future: "operating in six-year cycles across the U-14 to U-17 and U-18 to U-20 age groups, [the Women's National EXCEL Program] is designed to deliver an aligned talent structure and system that progresses more top players to Canada's Women's National Team, more often" (Canada Soccer).
The Saskatchewan Soccer Association, along with the High Performance Development Centre, is very proud of Ochitwa and her success at this elite level.
