GoalLine and Risk Management Update

2014-10-23

Implementation of GoalLine Province Wide

The SSA now has the majority of Regular Members and a number of Associates using GoalLine.

In 2015 our goal will be to engage all remaining Member Organizations to utilize GoalLine for all registration so that we can reach our goal of 100% participation by Outdoor 2016.

Nicole Knecht will be contacting those who have not yet initiated to begin your implementation strategy in the near future; if you would like more information or to attend a GoalLine Webinar please contact registrar@sasksoccer.com.

Risk Management

Saskatchewan Soccer plays an important oversight role providing guidance to all Member Organizations to develop Risk Management and best practices in soccer administration.  Aside from registration, GoalLine plays an important role by taking the pressure of volunteers in a number of key Risk Management and administrative areas including:

  • Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)
  • Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability requirements
  • Tracking of required standards including Volunteer Screening and Police Record Checks
  • Tracking of Respect in Sport  and coaching and referee certifications
  • Security of confidential and personal information
  • Issuing of receipts and Child Fitness Tax receipts

An important consideration that all Members must address is Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation; GoalLine allows all SSA Members to be in compliance with CASL.

We have taken a few key points (in bold & italic) from Sask Sport who provided the following article About Canada's Anti-Spam Law:

The law does not prohibit you from sending electronic communications, but in order to send any Commercial Electronic Messages (CEM) as of July 1, 2014 you must meet these three (3) requirements:

  • Consent: You must have express or implied consent to send a message.
  • Identification: You must clearly identify yourself and anyone on whose behalf the message is sent by including information such as name, organization, address, phone number and email.
  • Unsubscribe Mechanism: In every message you send, you must provide a way for recipients to unsubscribe from receiving messages from you in the future.

GoalLine provides SSA Members a system to track responses that you receive regarding express and implied consents, as well as unsubscribe requests and the dates they were done, and keep your communications system and records up to date.

In June the SSA sent out express consent requests to 500 Member Organization and SSA key contacts. Our response rate is 2.8%.  We would appreciate your support to provide express consent so that we can establish compliance with CASL.
