Saskatoon Soccer Star Set for FCE Academy Debut

2014-10-10

Saskatoon player Gabriel Milo joins the 2014/2015 FCE Academy program.

For the first time in the FCE Academy history, the program has included its first player from the neighbouring province of Saskatchewan. From Saskatoon, Gabriel Milo caught the eye of the FC Edmonton staff who offered him a spot in the 2014/2015 FCE Academy program. (Saskatoon Soccer Star Set for FCE Academy Debut Media Release).

SSA Director of Soccer Operations, Dave Nutt, "This is a fantastic opportunity for Gabriel to continue his development. We are thankful to Edmonton FC for taking the time to recognize the contributions of SSA Member Organizations, Astra Academy and Eastside Youth Soccer Association, in Gabriel’s development and for providing Saskatchewan players with the opportunity to train in a professional club academy. While this is a testament to Gabriel’s hard work, dedication and ability, it is also an example of how the SSA system is designed to support high performance athlete’s progress through the new Canada Soccer Pathway. With the recent release of Canada Soccer’s Men’s Excel Stream and continued implementation of the SSA High Performance Stream, we fully anticipate that many male athletes will follow in Gabriel’s footsteps in making the transition to Canada’s professional club academies enroute to opportunities with Youth National Teams and professional soccer careers."
